Short version: Your editions, reading history, likes, highlights, notes, and feed list stay on your device. Slow Web has no ads, analytics, or tracking. Data is sent to our service only to verify Pro access and when you explicitly publish a channel to the optional community directory.
Slow Web is a local-first RSS reader for iOS and Android. It fetches articles from RSS feeds you choose, assembles them into a daily edition, and stores your reading library locally on your device. No account or sign-in is required to read.
Slow Web does not collect or store on our servers:
When generating your daily edition, Slow Web makes direct HTTP requests from your device to the RSS feed URLs you have configured. Those requests are made by your device — the feed servers may log your IP address as they would for any web request. Slow Web itself does not log or store these requests.
On iPhone and iPad, Slow Web Pro purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Slow Web never receives your card number, billing address, or other payment credentials. To verify Pro access and authorize community-directory features, the app sends Apple's signed StoreKit transaction to our service. We verify Apple's signature and retain only the original transaction identifier and a pseudonymous authorization token.
On platforms where Slow Web offers Google Play or web billing, the applicable store or Stripe processes the payment. Depending on the platform, we may retain a store purchase token, subscription identifier, license status, and the email address supplied during web checkout so that Pro access can be restored.
See Apple's privacy policy, Google's privacy policy, and Stripe's privacy policy for their practices.
Slow Web includes an optional community channel directory. If you explicitly choose to upload a channel, its name, description, icon, and RSS feed URLs are stored by our service and made publicly visible. The upload is associated with a pseudonymous authorization token so you can manage or delete it; Slow Web does not attach your name to the public listing. If you set an optional recovery password, only a one-way password hash is stored.
Slow Web uses Cloudflare to operate its directory service and Supabase to store directory listings and authorization records. These providers may process technical information such as IP addresses as necessary to deliver and secure network requests. Slow Web does not use that information for analytics, advertising, or tracking.
All your data — editions, articles, highlights, notes, liked articles, settings, and your channel list — is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. This data is not backed up to any cloud service by Slow Web. It is removed when you uninstall the app.
You can use Slow Web without publishing anything to the community directory. Uploaded channels can be deleted from the directory inside the app. Uninstalling the app deletes its local reading database. For help deleting server-side purchase or directory records, email [email protected].
Slow Web does not integrate advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. We do not sell data, share it with data brokers, or combine it with third-party data for targeted advertising or advertising measurement.
Slow Web is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
